Description: The purpose of this solicitation is to sole source a Surface Plate Repair, 72 inch by 36 inch, granite calibration surface. The repair shall comprise 300 micro inch flatness & 60 micro inch uniformity (Grade AA specification (0.000300 inches) and uniformity (local flatness) of required areas within 0.000060 inches.). The 4th Contracting Squadron, Seymour Johnson AFB, NC intends to award a sole source purchase order to LS Starrett Company. A search in Dynamic Small Business found no small businesses were willing and capable of fulfilling this requirement.

APPLICABILITY OF AUTHORITY:

This purchase will be made under Simplified Acquisition Procedures as authorized by FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). The procurement is for Surface Plate Repair 72 inch by 36 inch granite calibration surface with 300 micro inch flatness & 60 micro inch uniformity (Grade AA specification (0.000300 inches) and uniformity (local flatness) of required areas within 0.000060 inches.).

Due to the fact that LS Starrett Company is the only company that can fullfill this requirement. Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract lies solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive requirement. The anticipated award is November 2022.
