Project Description |
One-Two Sentences
Appalachian State University is accepting proposals for a Construction Manager at Risk (CMR)for the Conservatory for Biodiversity and Educational Research (CBEAR) until October 18th, 2022 at 4:00 PM in the Office of Planning, Design & Construction at Facilities Annex, 2458 Hwy 105, Boone, NC 28607. This project is for CMR services related to construction of a new approximately 40,000 to 50,000 sq. ft. Conservatory for Biodiversity and Educational Research. Key program elements include spaces for research, teaching, and convening as well as infrastructure for the broader district are envisioned as part of this scope. This building will be served by a Net Zero District Energy Plant being constructed by a Public Private Partnership (P3). A P3 Faculty Housing Project will also be under construction simultaneously across the street from this project. Coordination between all projects is required and essential to the overall success of the Innovation District. The project will be pursuing Living Building Challenge (LBC) Core Certification with a reach to Petal Certified as Net Zero Energy. The CMR will need to keep track of all elements of the LBC Core certification, and in particular they'll need to actively manage elements of the Responsible Material Petal (CI-6), specifically around waste diversion and material sourcing. CI-8 Inclusion will also fall under the CMR domain as you'll need to pay attention to the workforce diversity requirements. Additional technical requirement that some CMR's may not use to include blower door testing and additional scrutiny on the envelope for leakage and thermal bridging. Therefore, LBC and or LEED Gold/Platinum experience is preferred. Please submit 3 hard copies and 1 electronic copy of your proposal. A Mandatory Pre-Proposal Conference will be held on: Conference Date: October 5, 2022 Conference Time: 10:00 AM Conference Address: Appalachian State University ASU Facilities Annex, Large Conference Room 2458 Hwy. 105 S. Boone, NC 28607
