The purpose of this effort is to provide on-site personnel to complete the actions and tasks necessary to provide centralized media processing and glassware services. Independently, and not as an agent of the Government, the Contractor shall furnish all necessary services and qualified technical personnel, not otherwise provided by the Government to provide preparation of biological media, tissue cultures, and “buffers”, as well as washing, sterilizing, issuance, and collection of glassware as required at the NIEHS in RTP. Additionally, the Contractor shall provide restocking service for disposable plastic ware and service to prepare sterile custom media using Government-furnished chemicals and media supplies.
The Contractor shall provide trained personnel with experience in preparation of sterile custom media and sterile laboratory glassware. All workmanship performed by the Contractor shall be of acceptable industry standard quality and shall be immediately rectified at no additional cost to the Government upon notification of non-acceptability by the Government. In addition, the Contractor shall observe commercially accepted safety and precautionary procedures pertaining to handling of laboratory equipment and biological and chemical materials.
The Contractor shall provide and require its employees to use appropriate personal protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses, uniforms, safety shoes, respiratory protection, etc.) as provided by the Government. The Contractor shall be responsible for safeguarding all Government property such as autoclaves, tunnel washers, dryers, DI water systems, water baths, biological safety cabinets, and other assorted laboratory equipment. that will be provided for use by the Contractor under this contract. The Contractor shall be held responsible for the cost of any repairs caused by negligence and abuse on their part. All Contract personnel must observe all regulations in effect at NIEHS.
